Historical biopic screenplay based on the life of musical sensation, Louis Armstrong

Logline: Louis Armstrong uses his musical skills to escape poverty and find true love, but when the Mafia wants to own him, he has to flee the musical city and the woman he loves to save his life. 

​Everyone’s looking for love. That’s Louis Armstrong’s motto in the screenplay, Of Sinners and Saints. He spends his entire life trying to find it. Born to a prostitute mother and abandoned by his father, Louis Armstrong grows up in the red light district of Storyville, where he watches his teenage mother entertain men for love and money. Neglected to the streets, Louis feeds himself on the soulful sounds spilling out of the juke joints. His natural gift for music opens doors to play prestigious, steady gigs at Mafia-owned nightclubs in Chicago where love is on every corner. But when his talent overrides the gigs and the mafia wants to own more than just his music, he escapes to New York to keep himself alive. Passionately pursuing love, he finds it in a dancer he calls “Legs,” while playing for Broadway. But even her never-ending love for him is no match for his love of the road which leads him to play for Royalty all over the world. His tour ends with the Pope, who prophesies about love’s truest form and changes Louis forever.
